Metacomet Land Trust owns 360 acres of Conservation Land and holds conservation restrictions on 176 acres. We also own 7 affordable housing lots in Franklin. Properties conserved by Metacomet are located in Bellingham, Blackstone, Franklin, Sutton, Upton, Uxbridge, and Wrentham.

 

Conservation Land

Blackstone:  130 acres, The Daniels Farm, Mendon Street: The land trust retains ownership of the 130 acres of woodland for open space and trails originally donated by Doris Daniels King in 1998. In June 2007, we conveyed a permanent conservation restriction on approximately 127 acres to the Mass Department of Fish and Game. The CR allows for future construction of an educational center and office. A 3-acre lot south on Mendon Street is not included in the CR.

Franklin: 14.5 acres on Daniels Road, including 12 acres known as the Reid Memorial Conservation Area.

Franklin: 10.5 acres off Dawn Marie Circle.

Franklin: 41.8 acres off Lincoln Street; within Franklin Woods open space subdivision.

Franklin: 1.75 acres, Coronation Drive;  outdoor classroom used by Kennedy Elementary School and Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary. Dedicated to Alfred S. Ferguson in May 2000.

Sutton and Millbury: 126.9 acres off Chase Road.

Sutton: 3.2 acres, Central Turnpike.

Sutton: 6.5 acres on Putnam Hill Road;, donated by James and Marina Gvazdauskas, January 2001.

Sutton: 9 acres on Manchaug Road, donated by Otco, Inc. in November, 2001.

Sutton: 6 acres off Manchaug Road, donated by John & Donna Couture, December 2002

Sutton: 9.3 acres off Manchaug Road donated by Gretchen Richards and Robert Ferragamo, December, 2010.

Conservation Restrictions

Bellingham: 11.7 acres on Charles River, off Plymouth Road: owned by the Bellingham Conservation Commission

Sutton: 35 acres, Dan Griffiths Property, now owned by new owners.

Upton: 62 acres, Chestnut Street; owned and donated by the Bernat family.

Uxbridge: 27 acres, Fox Fire Farm, Hazel Street, owned by the Hanscom family.

Uxbridge: 13.6 acres adjacent to Laurel Brook Club property donated by the New England Forestry Foundation, 2009.

Wrentham: 27 acres at the Hancock Christmas Tree Farm, 508 Hancock Street, donated by Bill and Joyce Marland, December, 2005.

Afforable Housing Properties

Franklin: 7 house lots owned by Metacomet Land Trust and leased to owners of affordable homes on each parcel, total acreage 4.8 acres
