Whitinsville Christian School was recently recognized by the Metacomet Land Trust for its efforts to put in place several green measures to reduce paper use, recycle paper and plastic, and raise funds to construct wind and solar powered lighting for its parking lot.  One of the efforts to raise funds for the project was to sell fabric grocery bags, which in turn reduces the use of plastic bags.  Pictured from left to right are: Lisa Mosczynski, President of Metacomet Land Trust, Ashley Cook, 8th grade student, Patricia Nedoroscik, Metacomet Board Member, Mark DeWeerd, Middle School Teacher, Sydney Herndon, 8th grade student, Laurie Salmon, Metacomet Board Member and WCS parent, and Kristabel Stark, 11th grade student.

MLT's Farm to Farm Tour, held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 was a great success according to everyone who participated in the very full day. Beginning with a moving video on the Community Harvest Project at the Brigham Hill Community Barn in Grafton, the guided bus tour showcased several Blackstone Valley farms and highlighted the relationship between open space and farm land and the many social contributions made by our local farmers.
